President's Message

Welcome to the Houston Area Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. I have been given the opportunity and privilege to serve as your president for 2008-2009. This is a wonderful organization with great people that have careers in management accounting and are enthusiastic about promoting their profession.

For this year, the Board will continue to develop high quality professional educational opportunities at our monthly technical meetings. These monthly technical meetings will continue to meet the educational requirements for the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified in Financial Management (CMF) as well as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designations.

The Board recognizes the importance of students by increasing student participation in the organization through their student chapters and nurturing the development of new student chapters. The Board will strive to increase the participation of young professionals as their foresight and vision contributes to the continual growth and success of our organization. Communication with our members continues to improve through our website, email and at technical meetings.

This Board is dynamic and we encourage our membership to contact us with ideas and comments. Membership in IMA has a great many benefits and getting involved is a great way to learn what our chapter has to offer.
