Community Service

Participating in IMA shows we are committed to professional development.   Giving back to the community shows "we care."   The Houston Chapter has had a long history of helping others, of giving back a little to our community.

The most significant annual community service project for the Houston Chapter is volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House in the Houston Medical Center.   Twice a year, the members of the Houston Chapter come together to prepare meals and provide entertainment and camaraderie for residents of the House.   This calendar year marks our 22nd year of service to the House.   The Ronald McDonald House of Houston is a home-away-from-home for the families of children undergoing treatment for cancer or other serious illnesses at hospitals in the Texas Medical Center.   The Ronald McDonald House answers the need for entire families to be close to the patient.   It provides a place where the whole family can stay in a home-like environment.   Families find support as they share with other families who are also undergoing the trauma of childhood illness.   October 29, 2008, we will serve dinner at the Texas Children’s hospital which is conveniently located at 6621 Fannin Street.   April 2, 2009, we will serve dinner at the main Ronald McDonald House at 1907 Holcomb.
